When God created the world, everything was good. God’s plan was to have a loving relationship with people, but sin entered the world when God’s people decided to disobey His one rule. That disobedience corrupted the world, and because of the corruption, we are separated from God. 

We try to escape this corruption through wealth, addictions, and relationships, but nothing works. We aren’t capable of defeating it. However, God chose to show us grace — He provided a way for us to escape the corruption through Jesus. He sent Jesus to live a perfect life, die on the cross for our corruption, and be raised from the dead so we could live with Him! And that’s grace — we didn’t deserve Jesus’ sacrifice, we certainly couldn’t earn it, and we definitely couldn’t have saved ourselves. All we have to do is accept His sacrifice and turn from our own corruption — He already handled the rest.   

So, if we choose to turn from the corruption — pride, selfishness, greed, etc. — and accept His sacrifice, believing in Jesus, we will be restored to having a right relationship with God. It’s that simple.

This life with God that Jesus offers us is a free gift of grace, and that’s why we call it Grace Life. He did what we could never do — He defeated sin — just so we could have a relationship with God.
